SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A 38-year-old man faces multiple charges after being charged in connection with a series of hot prowl burglaries from Sept. 26 to Oct. 23 in San Francisco's Noe Valley and Pacific Heights neighborhoods.
Levi Michael Banks has been charged with ten counts of residential burglary, vandalism, possession of stolen property, and theft of access cards and card information, according to San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins.
The DA's office said the San Francisco Police Department responded Sept. 26 to multiple reports of hot prowl burglaries between approximately 2:24 a.m. and 9:35 a.m. on the 4100 and 4200 blocks of 24th Street, the 600 block of Elizabeth Street and the 900 block of Noe Street.
Prosecutors said that investigators were able to identify and track the suspect's vehicle using automated license plate reader (ALPR) data after Banks allegedly made fraudulent purchases with victims' credit cards.
"On the morning of October 13, 2026, two homes — one on the 2500 block of Fillmore Street, the other on the 2200 block of Jackson Street — reported to police that they’d been burgled sometime before waking, with a combined loss of over $64,000 in valued property. On October 16, 2026, SFPD responded to a burglary report on the 200 block of 12th Avenue, a multi-unit home with family members in each unit," the DA's office said in a news release.
On Oct. 23., SFPD responded at approximately 2:23 a.m. to a triggered silent alarm at a residence on the 3700 block of Clay Street and spotted the suspect's vehicle. Banks was arrested when he later returned to his vehicle.
The DA's office said, "Officers searched the area where Mr. Banks was seen emerging; and located a backpack containing clothing worn by the suspect in surveillance footage in a tradesman path between two homes on Washington Street. The backpack contained personal identifying information belonging to residents of nearby homes, approximately $4,500 in cash, and clothing consistent with the descriptions given to SFPD by victims."
Banks' next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 3.
Despite charges being filed in the case, this remains an active investigation. Anyone with information tied to the case is asked to call SFPD at (415) 575-4444 or text TIP411, starting the message with "SFPD."
