(KRON) -- San Francisco-founded Square Pie Guys is closing its Palo Alto location this week, founder Marc Schechter announced on social media Wednesday. The location at 369 California Ave. is having its last day of business on Friday, Oct. 30.
Schechter said this was not an easy decision to shut down this pizzeria.
"It's sad. It wasn't an easy decision. It's been playing out for months and months," Schechter said. "It kind of pisses me off straight up. I'm sad for the team."

"Thank you to everyone who came in, ordered for the office, brought the kids, and became regulars. And a huge thank you to our Palo Alto crew for all of your hard work. You made this place what it was," Schechter wrote in the post.
Last week, Schechter went on KRON4 to talk about the release of his new cookbook.
With the Palo Alto closure, Square Pie Guys is directing its customers to its Campbell location at 501 E Campbell Ave.
Square Pie Guys started as a pop-up in 2018 before opening its first brick-and-mortar shop in the SoMa neighborhood of SF the following year. In just about eight years as a business, Square Pizza Guys has built a large following of more than 126,000 Instagram followers.
The other Square Pie Guys are located in Walnut Creek, Campbell, San Francisco (Ghirardelli Square and SoMa) and Oakland.
