If you’re looking for the cutest Halloween house in Columbus, you’ve got to check out 963 Franklin Ave in Olde Towne East. This place, home to the couple behind the home-goods shop A.J. Soseby and known to locals as “the broom house,” has the most incredible Halloween decor.
The brooms are up for 2026. Say N Play Columbus, a local Instagram account, posted a video of the house on October 8th and declared the witches “officially home for the season.”
Broomsticks hang off the porch and the front fence, with a few smaller hand brooms in the upstairs windows. Pumpkins line the front steps. It’s a deep forest-green Queen Anne Victorian with a three-story turret and dark trim, so the architecture is already doing half the work before a single broom goes up.
Adam Johnson and his partner are the couple behind the shop. The design site Gardenista profiled the display and reported a second nickname, “the witches’ house.” Johnson told the site that with a title like that, “it only made sense to create a parking lot for all the brooms.” The brooms are plain wooden ones from Home Depot, screwed to the house each fall and taken down after the season, with the spots patched and repainted.

Built in 1895, this Queen Anne Victorian has changed hands many times over the decades. When the current owners bought it in 2018, they brought it back to life, pairing its old-school elegance with a quirkier, more playful streak. The Halloween setup is where that personality really shows.
That kind of history is everywhere in Olde Towne East. It’s one of the city’s largest historic neighborhoods, with more than 50 architectural styles on its streets. Bankers and industrialists have been building here since the 1830s.
And if you’re strolling through Olde Towne East this Halloween, take your time soaking in all the decor.
The neighborhood knows how to do Halloween right. Step Out Columbus reports that nearby Bryden Road has closed to cars on Trick-or-Treat night in past years. From classic cobwebs to full haunted-house builds, the historic streets around it go all in.
Street parking on Franklin Ave is usually manageable, and the house sits within an easy walk of the rest of the neighborhood, so give yourself time for a slow lap around the block to take in the other setups. Trick-or-Treat in Columbus is Thursday, October 29th this year. Experience Columbus lists it from 6 to 8pm, and that night brings the crowds.
